After a smashing concert at the Rotarock Festival, a lot of people agreed on the fact that Bacon Fat was probably the best band that night, although they had to start up the festival, what can hardly be called an advantage. Their performance was reaching the same level as their CD The Art of Freedom. That means: excellent!

The Bacon Fat PLAY WITH FEEL TOUR 2011 will take off at De Swaffaar in Hamme near Gent. On the concert page you can find out more about the Tour gigs that already have been planned up till now. Somewhere in april we expect a very special CD release party. You'll be the first to know more when everything will be fixed!

Bacon Fat jumped into the studio on October 15 only to come out of it somewhere in half December. During those two months the boys assembled the results of four years of work on tape. One thing is clear according to W.: "These recordings are the first to show and accentuate all the aspects of the band and it's music. I didn't only want standard songs on the album, I wanted an album which captured the whole pic. We always experimented on the recordings before and we just keep doing it. And again we took it a little further, adding sax and electric piano to some sequences. If music doesn't evolve it might get boring and that we can't have, can we!"
The album is scheduled for release somewhere around April 2011.

Although they had to open the festival in the afternoon, Dirty Vicky played an excellent concert at the Blues at the Attic festival in Herent (BEL), showing the public their very personal view on how to live the blues. They also conquered the seventeenth place in the “Vlaamse Steenweg 30” ranking at radio FM Brussels. Last week they were spending their time in the studio, recording some new songs.

Great news from the Dirty Vicky camp: the band will be performing at the Flachlandfest in Berlin. They are selected together with Mintzkov, Balthazar, DAAU and The Bony King of Nowhere to represent Flanders at the festival.
On August 26th Dirty Vicky will perform at the Trixcafé in Antwerp and after that it's straight on the bus to Berlin. There they will perform on Saturday August 28th on the mainstage at 23h00. Poppunt will send a camera-team who'll put the whole trip on film.

Bacon Fat played the last show of the Greasy Decade Tour last saturday at Francofolies in Spa. Some occasional dates may be added but the main focus of the band will be the recording of the third studio album. The session starts on October 14th and will be finished by early December if everything goes well.

Bacon Fat wrote some new songs. By the end of 2010 the new material will be recorded in order to present you the new Bacon Fat album by early 2011. Most of these songs will already be performed on stage during the GREASE DECADE TOUR in 2010.

By June 2000 W. met Luke Lammenzo at the local pub. Luke told him they (Luke and his best pal Kris/mr Nasty) were looking for a guitar-player/singer. Two weeks later on July, 18th the first rehearsal of what eventually became the first solid Bacon Fat line-up was a fact. The beginning of a GREASY DECADE of Bacon Fat.

G.I.U.M. Agency is preparing a big mail campaign to promote our bands all over the country. We are also negotiating a contract with the Gasoline Concerts Agency to represent some of our bands in Holland and vice versa. More news about that within a few weeks.

Hello Folks! High time to get in touch again to announce some interesting developements "chez Grease".
After some great performances in Aachen and Sint-Truiden, Bacon Fat is now preparing the "sequel" of the Liberty Tour, playing gigs in Landen, Petit-Hallet (Hannut), Herent and others yet to arrange.

Grease it up Music is back in town. After a long wintersleep the newspage is alive again together with the renewed website. From now on it wil be updated everytime we've got some interesting news for you.

Rockballast steht hoch im Kurs

Stolberg. Sie sind jung, spielen technisch sauber und verstehen viel von Musik: Die Mitglieder der Aachener Band «Avoid Silence», die bei «Rockballast» rund ums Burghaus am Samstag den Anfang machen.
Es ist die melodische, ausdrucksstarke Stimme von Sarah Stoelmann und der virtuose Stil der weiteren vier männlichen Bandmitglieder im Alter von 20 bis 34 Jahren, der beim Publikum bestens ankommt. Die Mischung macht´s: Crossover, Rock, Metall, Hardcore, Pop und Fusion haben die Fünf im Gepäck. Die Mehrzahl der 18 Songs sind Eigenkompositionen. Arrangements, in der die Kaiserstädter viel Zeit und Ideen gesteckt haben.
Dass sich dieser Aufwand gelohnt hat, wissen auch die rund 200 Zuschauer zu schätzen, die sich schon eine Stunde nach Eröffnung des Festivals vor historischer Kulisse eingefunden haben und die Band mit reichlich Beifall belohnen.
Bluesrock im Stil von ZZ Top gehört zum Programm der Nachfolgeband, die aus dem mittelbelgischen Landen kommt. Sie bietet mit Sänger Wouter Johnson einen Stimmungsmacher auf, der das Spiel auf der Gitarre perfekt beherrscht und seine Bandkollegen von «Bacon Fat» zu immer wieder zu neuen, aufregenden Rock ´n´ Roll-Melodien hintreibt.
Virtuos präsentiert sich die Band, die zu später Stunde auftritt: «Jim Button«s» ist der Name der Gruppe, die aus Langenfeld bei Düsseldorf angereist ist. Sie versteht ihr Geschäft und präsentiert sich als Rock-Cover-Profi. Rasch springt der Funke über und animiert das Publikum zum Tanzen und Mitgehen.
Partystimmung macht sich unter den mittlerweile 250 Zuschauern breit, und sie geraten im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes schier aus dem Häuschen. Es wird geklatscht, gesungen und ausgiebig getanzt. Angetrieben werden die fünf Männer von Frontmann Thorsten Kuck, der das dargebotene Repertoire originaltreu und authentisch wiedergibt.
Neben einem tollen Musikprogramm haben es Erwin Görres und Marita Matousek als Veranstalter wieder einmal geschafft, ein Generationen übergreifendes Publikum mit einem Flair zu versorgen, das von historischen Mauern und dem freien Blick auf den alten Westturm der Burg lebt.
Des Weiteren wird die Stimmung dadurch verstärkt, dass es Grillgut gibt, eine Getränketheke aufgebaut ist und das Festival unter freiem Abendhimmel stattfindet.
Da stört es auch nicht, dass ab und zu eine kleine Schauer niedergeht. Immerhin bieten die aufgebauten Dächer reichlich Platz und darunter Schutz zu suchen.

Grease it up Rock Rally
Yes, on October 11th there will be a real alternative rock-contest. Grease it up Music and the local Council of Youth joined forces to organise a real rock rally. The idea is to promote them bands who play the real stuff from the heart and the balls. Bands who show some guts in their way of playing: real musicians that's wat we want. Bands should play blues, rock, blues-rock, soul, funk, jazz-rock, latin-rock, hell, anything that sounds real. This means NO pop, metal, dance, hip-hop,… there’s already enough contests for those bands. Keep an eye on our website: we will keep you up to date with the development of the project.

To stay in line with the last album the new Bacon Fat tour is baptised the ‘MOJO Tour 2008’. The new set includes a re-arranged ‘Foxy Lady’ (which has been added in recent shows). Total new is opening-song ‘Hallelujah’ by Andre Williams. No song will guarantee a better start for a party than this one.

Members of Bacon Fat and The Sapiens, all being fine musicians and nice guys (we suppose), now and then join other bands or assist at jam-sessions all over the country.
As we all know, Jens plays a double-bass in a folkband and in a classical music orchestra. Delvis is often asked to loan is exceptional voice for performances with other bands. Rico is also playing drums in a band at the Jazz Studio in Antwerp and with the Goossens Band.
W. assisted at a great jam-session in Flémalle with four other well-known guitarplayers (Froidebise a.o.) and recently joined Latex Lovers, a fun-project consisting of four members of the Rock in the Cirk Festival.

Yesterday September 18th Bacon Fat hosted a 2 hour radio-show on local radiostation VRW. The show was on the air from 20h00 to 22h00 Central European Time and included a band history, a band interview, two short live sets in the studio, a presentation of the new album, the history of Grease it up Music, our brother-band The Sapiens and a short but fine selection of music by W., Benjamin and Enrique.

During their summer holidays the Sapiens had to refuse at least 3 or 4 gigs: it was simply not possible to gather the whole band. Last week we were informed that Liveblues@thecoast has been cancelled. Organising a festival at the Belgian Coast is clearly not that easy! And due to financial problems the concert of Bacon Fat at the Venus party in Landen was cancelled too. Money makes the world go round???
But don't worry, be happy... the new Bacon Fat album went into production at Disco Press and will soon be available!

As Bacon Fat has fans all over the globe we are proud to tell you the following story. One of the band’s biggest fans in the US is Klor Rowland. Not only is he a fan of Bacon Fat, he’s also a talented comedian/actor. He recently ordered a BF-shirt and told W. he would wear the shirt on this film festival to promote the band.
As any promotion is helpful the boys were already pleased with this proposal. When Klor send a message one day after the festival the band welcomed a nice surprise. On this very moment the new Bacon Fat recordings are being mastered at Imperial Mastering in California. Meanwhile Kathlena S. is still busy with the development of the new BF-site and album-cover.

Bacon Fat finished the recording process at NoHype Studio and is currently mixing the tracks. We can already assure you the new album will contain 13 tracks. These wille include some surprises such as a guest vocalist, an instrumental song and more! Watch out for more updates here.

Rumors say that this year will mark the comeback of W. 's "Nitro Hag" on stage. The guitar (pic: see the GREASE... introduction page) hasn't been used for a live gig for nearly two years. The last time we could see it, was at the Genk on Stage Festival and at the Morefun Festival in Antwerp in June 2005.

The new website of Bacon Fat is on its way. We'll have it online by June. We can assure you that the style will be totally different because we have a new (female) designer: Kathlena S. Bacon Fat hit their ole' hometown for the first time with the new line-up. Place to be was Café Op de Beek. The set included a lot of material which had never been played before in Sint-Truiden, and the fans were very pleased with the new sounds. The band will play the venue again somewhere in Spring 2007.

As mentioned before, Bacon Fat hit NoHype Studio to record the first session for their new album. Rico and Ben really did a great job recording the rhythm-tracks, much to the satisfaction of the whole team.
During the next session the guitars and vocals will be added. This session will probably start in january 2007.

Tomorrow saterday November 18th Delvis (The Sapiens) will play a full gig with the Boogie Workers. The bill says: 'a bluesy evening' with The Boogie Workers and The Winklepickers (Lux). Delvis will replace Dave White on bluesharp and will perform some vocals too! Place to be: Salle Concordia, Messancy.

From 9 to 19 November Bacon Fat will record the first session for their new album at No Hype Studio. When winter's gone and spring is in the air, the new CD will rule the waves.
The sixteenth of December they'll be back at Sint-Truiden (for the first time in the new line-up) to kick ass at the Op de Beek café. Make sure that your personal insurance is OK!

At 'O Fiach's Irish Pub Bacon Fat played for the very first time without Marshall-amplification. Ten minutes before the start of the show W. noticed that his JCM600 head wasn't working at all. So he had to leave it and perform only on his '73 Fender Twin Reverb. But it turned out to go well. The sound was much dryer but thanks to the Expandora-pedal a fat dirty tone was created.
On special demand of Ron, the owner of the pub, the boys played an encore which became a true extra set. Most unusual that was, especially as they did 3 songs from the forthcoming album, that had never been played live before. Finally, the band played over three hours. Everybody satisfied and the band was invited right away to come back for another gig in the near future.

Bacon Fat has just added a solid PA-system for pub-gigs to their rack. The system consists of two 275W active speakers and a full-effect YAMAHA mixer. This set-up enables the band to perform with high quality vocal settings in small venues.
